As I was reading this article I was reminded of the phrase “All of the experts were once beginners”. As the piece talked about the masters refining pieces multiple times, I was reminded how this carries over to all aspects of life. In sports, we practice our techniques and skills, in video games you practice against the computer and in the real world we learn from trial and error and guidance of those older than us. As I was reading this I also thought of the close relation to my first draft for this paper. Lamott writes about using your “childlike” voice and letting all your thoughts pour out. I felt like this was a very good tip, because I found that this was the most effective way to write my draft. I felt like this paper reminded me closely of many daily examples of refining skill.
